Chail, in the pines
About eighty guests, cold air and pine trees all around.

Chail Palace sits high in Himachal Pradesh, among deodar pines that keep the air cold even when the sun is out. It was a small wedding, about eighty guests, and the size of it shaped everything we did.
With fewer people in the room there is nowhere to hide and nothing to perform. We stayed at the edges, kept our distance where we could, and let the ceremony run at its own pace.

What we kept
The photographs we keep are rarely the ones anyone planned: a hand on a shoulder, the lawn before the guests arrive, white chairs waiting under the trees.
Nothing was staged. The pines did most of the work.
The full set, and the film, are on the Chail Palace page.
